Take part in a unique experience for an indelible memory of the Langhe

OVERVIEW

The visit is to the historic Germano Angelo winery founded in 1908. It starts with the vineyards that surround the farm, the farmhouse is located in Annunziata di La Morra, in the Langhe. We will show you the rows and vines up close, we will explain the cultivation, thinning and pruning techniques as well as some information that many do not know and which serves to better understand the crop cycle of the plant. Then you enter the cellar to visit the various rooms: from bottling to fermentation, from storage to aging to conclude with the most beautiful rooms which date back to the end of the sixteenth century, which belonged to the bishop's curia of Alba and which house our oldest bottles . At the end of the visit we move to the municipality of Barolo, the heart of the Langhe, to the premises which are now home to the "il Bosco delle Galline Volanti" farmhouse and which were once the first social winery of Barolo, founded by a great-grandfather of the Germano family. A guided lunch will be served in the restaurant with wine pairings from the Germano winery. Those who don't drink wine don't have to worry because there is a version with non-alcoholic infusions. You can also request a vegetarian menu with our magnificent vegetables from the garden. For children we have a special menu.

WHEN, WHERE and WHAT TIME?

The experience is available on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays from March to November.

11.30 am Visit to the cellar, vineyards, production and aging rooms at Annunziata in La Morra

The first part includes a visit to the historic Giachini vineyard, which surrounds the property, during which the various processes for the cultivation of the vine are explained. From the vineyard you then access the garden and continue inside the cellar through the various dedicated rooms to the processes of manufacturing and bottling the wine, then reaching the final rooms of ageing and display of the historic bottles in the seventeenth-century farmhouse that belonged to the Episcopal curia of Alba. You will visit one of the most historic wineries in the Barolo Langa, founded in 1908.
The visit starts at 11.30 am and lasts about an hour.

1pm lunch with wine tasting in Barolo at the renovated historic cellar

The visit ends at 12.30pm and lunch starts at 1pm.
For the second part we move to the historic center of Barolo, 5 minutes by car from the Annunziata of La Morra, near what was, at the end of the 19th century, the first social winery of Barolo and then the cellar of the Germano family from the 1930s, a truly iconic place for the town of Barolo. In these places rich in history, lunch is served with selected wines. There are four courses and include an appetizer, a first course, a second course and a dessert, ideal for those who want to explore the pairing of wines by tasting many delicious dishes, each symbol of a traditional recipe. The dishes, prepared with fresh products from the Bosco delle Galline Volanti farm and other local farms, all contain one or more typical products with the D.O.P. brand. or i.g.p. making the tasting particularly authentic and with an eye to km0.

The dishes, always seasonal, give the opportunity to explore the ancient Piedmontese food and wine culture. Our research aims to rediscover recipes from times gone by but selecting them with today's criteria (lighter and healthier ingredients) and bringing them back to a more credible peasant context. To give an example, we make the classic plin ravioli but it is unlikely that the families could afford beef, it is much more likely that they used farmyard animals and so the plin with chicken filling was born. A cuisine that seeks to preserve a collective heritage. Each dish, as well as each wine, will be told in its organoleptic characteristics but also through the history and anecdotes behind it.

BOOK

What types of tasting can be booked?

As we said, lunch coincides with the wine tasting, there are no tastings separate from lunch. In fact, each dish is paired with one or more wines which are described in their organoleptic characteristics and how they were combined with the different typical recipes of the Langhe.
People have access to a placemat on which there are graphs for creating the sensorial profile of the wine and the dish and to be able to see how they interact with each other to form the perfect pairing, which is why our masterclass is called "THE PERFECT COUPLE".
